Oregon City High School’s national honor society is helping out the Clackamas Women Services (CWS) in raising money. CWS is a non-profit organization that works to help out domestic violence survivors and their families. National Honors Society members are walking around the school with jars to collect money for their cause this holiday season.
The National Honors Society decorated jars and set out on their endeavor the week of December 8th through the 12th. Many members are proud to be involved in this fundraiser.
Senior Board Member, Sofia Misley said, “It is nice to see who will donate, and experience an opportunity to help out a wider issue than just our direct community.”
Many people cannot donate with the new focus on cards as payment instead of cash, still people in the community made the effort to bring in money specifically for this cause.
“I donated because it is an important cause,” Khloe Mckenzie, a junior at Oregon City High School, said, “I think that it should get a lot more recognition.”
At the end of the week the money was all counted up to see the contribution the school made to the families in need. The money ended up being around 625 dollars.
