Many people who live in Oregon City have been to – or know someone who’s been to – the Oregon City Swimming Pool. Lots of teens in Oregon City grew up going to this pool and some schools even did swim lessons for elementary students. The swimming pool will be celebrating its 60th birthday on January 24th, 2026.

The Oregon City Swimming Pool was built in 1965 and opened in 1966. Paul Brothers inc. is the construction company who is responsible for building the swimming pool but many other people helped out too.

The swimming pool has stayed primarily looking the same since it was built. The most intense changes were an outside pool being replaced and dressing rooms being added.

One of the first coaches and swim directors at the Oregon City swimming pool is Mr. Fish. He recently made a post on Facebook stating that he was the first swim coach. He also states that he made many young children’s lives happier by helping them learn to swim and such.

Many people remember having lots of fun at the pool throughout their childhood.

“When my grandma took me and I went down the slide for the first time,” Ivy Moyes said. “That was my favorite memory.”

The OC pool is good for entertainment and distance for people living or staying in Oregon City.

“I went to the OC pool because it was the closest,” Ruby Nordhausen said. “I really liked all the activities like the pool and the diving board.”

For the celebration of the swimming pool, it will be a free event taking place from 12:30-4:00p.m. It is being held at the Oregon City Swimming Pool. However, there are only so many places for people. And therefore, peers are encouraged to show up at 12:00-12:30 p.m. for a better chance to get a place.

There will be lots of celebration, cake, and a projection to help people learn more about the swimming pool and its history. The presentation will be held after recreational swim. The celebration will be decorated like a birthday party.

The 60th birthday of the Oregon City Swimming Pool is set as a celebration to help bring people together. It could be people who grew up going to the swimming pool or it could be people who have never even been before.

No matter what your relationship with the swimming pool is, people are encouraged to go and have fun while also gaining some knowledge about the pool that they might not have known before.
